A small gasp escaped her as he moved toward the furniture. This was definitely different than riding in his hand. Here, she could feel the sway of Jonathan’s step. She shook herself slightly when he looked back down. Slowly, she stood to see the selection. “Oh, wow,” she breathed. This was both amazing and unnerving for her. That they had this much choice when they were giants. Maybe... Maybe some of this just went in dollhouses.... with regular old dolls. She pushed that line of thought from her mind. She was safe here, with Jonathan. He was actually taking an interest in what she wanted, and it felt nice. “Y-yeah,” she murmured. “I’d need help to get it to the basket anyway.” She giggled lightly, imagining herself pushing and pulling something to the basket while he just looked on. “I was thinking maybe a table and chair, plus a recliner, maybe? I don’t mind sleeping on your pillow... if you don’t.”

She gasped.... was that a bad thing? The sudden movement... it probably surprised her, she was still alright though, and didn’t say anything about it.... so he assumed it wasn’t too bad.... He’d make sure to be more careful though, it was kind of odd to have her in the basket instead of her in his hand.... or even his shoulder.... He felt like he had to keep looking down to make sure she was still there, because if he didn’t then he might just forget that she was present.... Wait.... that sounded kind of bad.... he didn’t mean that she was invisible! Ugh maybe he should stop thinking right now.... “E-er right, t-that sounds good.....” He was a little surprised to hear that she actually didn’t mind sleeping on his pillow..... when he had first put here there he was worried she might not like the choice but..... Apparently not. “U-uh n-no of course not! I.... I t-thought that you m-minded....” At least they wouldn’t have to worry about getting a bed.... They should start at the beginning right? Seemed like the best thing to do.... and then they could just work their way down until she found something that caught her eye. “I erm.... Guess we should d-do the top shelves f-first....” He lowered his hand for her, since climbing out would be a bit difficult..... and wasn’t exactly the best option....

She giggled a little, blushing a little that he thought she minded. Okay, waking up there had been pretty much terrifying, mostly because she hadn’t expected it completely. Now, she was getting more used to the idea of being around giants. She was startled from her thoughts when his hand entered the basket with her. “O-oh, yeah,” she stammered, climbing on. “Sorry, I was off in space for a second there.” She smiled up at him as she settled in his palm. Somehow, this was getting easier. Maybe it was because he was always so gentle, even when it seemed he was new at this too.

He winced a little from seeing her get startled, slowly lifting his hand up level with his face to where the shelf was. “I-it’s alright.....” That actually happened to him far too much.... so it was understandable. He just always got a little worried when she would suddenly react like that.... he thought he had done something wrong at first, like out his hand down basket too fast.... “I-I never thought that... t-there w-would be this much....” He muses, carefully setting her down. That must have meant that there were enough humans in the world for them to need such a large selection.... or maybe they just really liked making miniature furniture and got carried away...? Well whatever the reason was, hopefully it wouldn’t be too hard to choose.... “I-if you find something then erm... c-call me over.” He wasn’t really going to be looking for her.... since he wanted to make sure it would be something she picked, but that didn’t mean he still couldn’t have a look around.... Besides, he had to at least make it seem like he was searching so it wouldn’t be so obvious. There were all sorts of different kinds.... some fancy, some more simple, they all had detail though.

“It’s pretty incredible,” she agreed, stepping off his hand. “I will, Jonathan.” She started weaving between the furniture looking everything over. She saw a really cool dresser off to one side and hurried over. The grain was beautiful and so was the color. “No, Lizzie,” she reprimanded herself. She walked away, but kept glancing over her shoulder at it. ‘I will need something to put my clothes in,’ she thought. Maybe she would come back for it. She turned just in time to see the perfect table. It was just the right size for her. She looked back to the edge of the shelf. “Jonathan, I think I found it!” she called, pointing to the table and chairs. True, she only needed one, but maybe they could talk to the clerk or something. “And there’s a really cool dresser too!” Of course she had talked herself into it.

From the corner of his eye he could already see her rushing off to something only after a few minutes.... possibly less, the sight put a soft smirk on his face. It was quite enjoyable seeing her get so excited or happy about all this stuff, and the mood was contagious....  He looked away just when she turned and went, so he didn’t get to see her go by it. It was expected that her voice would soon be heard calling out his name though, he turned around and followed to where she was pointing heading back over. Well she certainly seemed to know what she wanted.... she even picked a dresser as well, he totally forgot that she’d need that.... good thing she was here, and remembered those things for him..... “O-oh alright.” He looks the pieces of furniture over, then glances at her. “You’re happy with your choices?” He asks, wanting to make sure she was satisfied before making it official.

Lizzie grinned at him and nodded. “There are a few other bits I’d like to find, but they aren’t on this shelf,” she said, a slight pout forming on her face. Suddenly, she realized just how comfortable she was getting. It was strange. Even without really trying, he seemed to be slowly peeling away the shell she usually had around other people. “Oh! And I really only need one of those chairs... unless you have a friend who.... um...” she trailed off, not really wanted to refer to herself as a pet. He didn’t see her like that. He had told her he didn’t see her like that. All the same, she smiled up at him.

Huh, well she certainly seemed to have everything in mind for what she wanted.... which was good! He chuckled slightly at seeing her pout, taking the table from off the shelf and carefully putting it in the basket. He was about to take one of the chairs, but paused at her unfinished sentence, which didn’t really need to be finished at all..... He was glad she trailed off, if she had continued he probably would have felt sick. Just thinking about what she was about to say was making him feel wrong. “W-well erm..... I-if you want.... i-it could be an extra, j-just in case.” He suggested, resting his hand on the edge for a moment while he waited to hear her thoughts on the idea.

Her breath caught slightly at how easily he could move the furniture. It would have taken two reasonably strong men to do what he had just done with one hand. She shook herself and looked at his hand. He was always so gentle with her, so kind. “Yeah, that’s a really good idea,” she answered, looking up into his deep blue eyes. Before he could move, she walked over and hugged one of his fingers. He wouldn’t have had to do any of this for her, but she was glad he was. “You’re pretty amazing, you know that?”

He smiled to hear her approve, though he soon seemed to freeze a little when their eyes met. He stayed in such a state while she came over, the only thing that were really moving were his eyes that were following her. His expression melted at the hug, along with his insides.... basically everything.... She always managed to get him with things like that.... whether it was a hug like this, or just words. In this case, and others.... it was both. “A-amazing...?” He was as red as a rose. “Y-you a-are..... too..... I-in a lot of ways.... f-far too many to list.....” She kept saying stuff like that to him, but when was the last time he returned such kind words....? Well that was mostly because he was too shy to say it..... but heck, he was already blushing furiously, how much worse could he get? He wished he could say more, but he lacked the ability to..... or at least for now.

She squeezed his finger at his words. “Not true,” she said softly. “I’m not amazing.” She pulled away slightly, looking up at his face. A giggle escaped her. He was pure red. “Why are you blushing so much?” she asked, hiding her mouth behind her hands to try to control her laughter. She took a few skipping steps backwards. “It’s like every time I say something you blush,” she giggled. She hunched over slightly, trying not to laugh at him. It wouldn’t be good to laugh just because he was blushing.... but it looked so cute and funny. Lizzie stopped suddenly. Had she just thought of a giant as.... cute? Her hands lowered from her face, revealing a full smile.

Jonathan furrowed his eyebrows together at her response. “Is too.” He replied back just as softly. “And yes you are.” Now he most certainly wasn’t one to disagree, but this was an exception... He wasn’t exactly sure how he was able to say those sentences without stuttering..... Though usually when he really wanted to get a message across he would be able to temporarily speak smoothly. He gave a little sheepish one-sided grin when she mentioned his blush, only making him keep it longer. “I-I..... Ergh....” He didn’t actually know how to answer that.... he didn’t know why it was so easy for him to blush, even at the smallest of things, no pun intended.... “W-well.... you s-say I lot of n-nice things... I-I’m not v-very used t-to it....” That was the best he could offer as far as an explanation..... “I-it just happens... I-I suppose....” It was so nice to see that smile of hers.... he seemed to be seeing a lot of it today. “Y-you look p-pretty with a s-smile on....” He says after a few seconds of silence, instantly realizing that he had said that out loud. He really wanted to hide now..... maybe he could duck down? No... that would just be silly....

She leaned forward, standing on her toes as he tried to explain his blush. Her own face lit up at his compliment and she spun around, losing her balance and falling on her backside. She didn’t move to stand again, knowing her legs would probably give out again. He thought she looked pretty? So she really wasn’t just a cute little thing like a kitten to him? He really meant it. The shocked expression she had worn as she turned and fell became one of joy. She bit her tongue to keep from squealing with happiness, but she did flop back. He even looked cute upside down. “Looks like you can get me to blush, too,” she cooed.

His eyes widened as she fell back, and was about to bring a hand up to try and stop her fall, but he stopped mid-way, and he slowly drew it back. She.... was okay, right? “L-Lizzie...?” He asks, a look of slight concern on his face. She seemed alright..... though she was just lying there.... He blinked at her words, chuckling sheepishly and giving a nod. “Heheh.... y-yes.... I-I guess w-we b-both do i-it.... to e-each other, huh?” He found himself subconsciously tilting his head due to her looking at him in an upside-down manner. “T-those g-glasses sure stay o-on well.” He mused.

She smiled, seeing him tilt his head. She rolled onto her side to try and match it, eventually winding up on her stomach with her head propped on her hands. “Yeah, my old ones must have been really loose,” she said with a small sigh. Getting a bit uncomfortable, she pushed herself up. “Sorry about that. You just surprised me,” she murmured, brushing herself off. It probably wasn’t a good idea to act like this in a store. Looking around, she spotted her dresser. Grinning wildly, she trotted over to it and smiled up at him.

Her old glasses... he wondered just how roughly she could have be picked up or treated for them to be knocked from off her face.... he didn’t really want to know actually.... far too rough for him to imagine..... “E-erm yes..... they.... m-must have been....” He replies, pushing such thoughts aside. “I-I surprised y-you....?” He repeats, watching her get up and head over to the dresser she had selected before. Oh yes.... that’s right, they were getting things..... in a store..... he had almost forgotten that.... “O-oh! S-sorry, you want t-that right?” He took the two chairs before making the short distance over to where she had gone. It was a pretty nice looking piece of furniture.... he didn’t even see anything else like it while he was having a look around. She knew how to pick’em alright. “W-wow...” He gingerly picked up the little dresser and looked it over, making sure to be careful with it. “This i-is nice....” It should do well to keep her clothes in, now where would this go....? He supposed they’d have to think about that later.

She caught the worry in his voice. Her old glasses had been really loose. These were actually nicer. At his words, she giggled a bit. Had he really forgotten where they were? Well, she had too for a while there. She nodded at his question, taking a step back as his hand neared the dresser. “It’s walnut, I think,” she answered, before quickly covering her mouth. “I mean, it’s really pretty isn’t it?” She couldn’t believe that slipped out. It was usually so easy to keep her knowledge of woodworking in check. How had it slipped out so easily around him?

The work put into the piece was actually quite interesting to see, he liked this type of stuff, in fact.... he knew a great deal about it.... considering he’s done a good amount of the furniture that was in his own house.... He nodded a smiled when she named what wood the dresser was made out of. “Yes that’s.....” He paused, looking back up at her from realizing she had actually known that. It’s not that he didn’t feel it was possible.... he just...... never thought she of all people would know that..... did that make sense? “That’s right I-I...... I-I didn’t k-know you.... k-knew about woodwork....” He quirked a brow at her trying to play it off, holding back a chuckle. “I already h-heard you, you know.”

She blushed as he looked at her, ducking her head and playing with her fingers. She mentally gave herself a high five when he said she was right. Chewing her lip a little, she looked back up at him. “M-my grandpa has a workshop in his garage,” she offered, shoving some hair behind her ear. “I always liked to go visit and help him work. He taught me how to use a few of the tools.” She shifted on her feet, a little embarrassed. Then it hit her. She wasn’t going to be able to work with her grandpa anymore. Shaking her head, she looked up at Jonathan. “I know cedar might actually be better, but I doubt moths will even bother trying to get in it,” she tried to joke.

It was both nice hear about how she knew those things...... and sad. He went into a small trance thinking about how it was so wonderful to have her here, but how hard it must be for her to accept that she would never get to do something as simple as spend time with a loved one. He wasn’t going to deny that thoughts similar to that had entered his mind before, of course it did. Though usually when he would think about things like that, he would look a Lizzie, and see that she was happy, then those thoughts would disappear. Hearing her actually talk about it herself though..... it was a bit different.... he was forced to face it because it was on her mind too. Her voice gently knocked him back to reality, and he was able to smoothly reply to her without it seeming like he had just blacked out. He wasn’t really sure how to respond though, he kind of felt like it wasn’t his place to, like he didn’t have the right.... “Oh...” That’s it?! That’s all he says? He should have said nothing.... Silence would have been better than him just saying ‘Oh’! He wasn’t trying to sound like he wasn’t interested in what she had said.... but he just felt like it was sort of a sensitive subject.... and he didn’t know if he should ask more about it.... or just let her mention that and move on.... “I-I m-mean......” He swallowed dryly, feeling like he should respond better. “W-what did he.... m-make?” Good job using pass-tense grammar..... “A-and yeah..... a-at least t-that won’t be a p-problem...” He says, referring to her little joke.

Lizzie shifted her stance, a little uncomfortable. So far she had done a decent job of not thinking about home... Decent as in she shoved it away as quickly as possible. But now.... Her grandpa was one of the staples of her life, going to his shop was always really good stress relief. She shook her head, reminding herself that they were in a store and that Jonathan was right there. She wouldn’t let herself cry here. At his first response, she ducked her head and hugged herself, tears stinging in her eyes. He hadn’t meant for it to sound like that.... They were both just getting used to their new circumstances, that’s all. Her fingers dug into her arms as he spoke again, this time sounding interested. “He... he makes a lot of things,” she said with a shaky breath. ‘I am strong,’ she told herself. ‘I will not cry.’ Turning so her back was to him she rubbed at her nose and eyes. Why had she let that slip? “He doesn’t really make anything big anymore, but he made my family’s TV stand, coffee tables, and outdoor chair. Um.... cutting boards, lazy susans, step stools, an occasional picture frame, but those are harder than they look.” She let out a shaky breath, rocking on her feet. All that was gone for her now. She turned suddenly, trying to look cheerful. “C’mon, we still have a few other things to get, right?”

It was always hard for Jonathan to be able to tell when Lizzie was crying, or about to.... because she would always try to hide herself before he could see any tears. But he was learning.... and this time despite her efforts, it was obvious that something struck her, and pretty hard. Was it bad that he asked about it? Maybe he should have stayed quiet.... it looked as though answering his question just made it worse. He listened to her reply, just hearing her voice as her back was turned to him. She must have missed doing those things so much..... it pained him to know she wouldn’t be able to enjoy those things again..... She was trying so hard to be strong.... but he knew it must always be in the back of her mind. He knew it was with him..... He going to try and come up with a response, though before he could utter out a word she had already turned around and said something else. “U-uh..... y-yeah..... W-we do....” He nodded and put the dresser with the rest of the collected furniture, then offered a hand. “W-was there anything else y-you wanted in this s-section....?”

She rolled her lips between her teeth and nodded. “I-I was hoping to maybe get a comfy chair or couch-thing and a... well, a bathtub, maybe?” she asked, looking up at him. Forcing a smile, she stepped onto his hand, settling in the middle of his palm with her head down. She kept telling herself that it wasn’t all bad here. She had Jonathan looking out for her, after all. Her arms wrapped around herself as she tried to stop thinking about home. This was home now, here with Jonathan. She took a deep breath through her nose and looked up at him, gratitude filling her eyes. Her hands dropped to his palm and started rubbing little circles into his skin. She was young yet; she could adapt. “If you don’t mind getting them, of course,” she added softly.

“A..... couch-thing...?” He arched a brow, trying to think of something that was like a chair, and a couch..... “E-erm.... y-you mean like a re-recliner?” That was the only thing that came to mind.... he was sure they would have something like that around somewhere. “Heheh.... y-yeah w-we’ll get a bath f-for you t-too....” The one thing he dreaded having to talk about was that.... but that had to be taken care of as well.... he just.... felt odd talking about it and.... wait, what was that... that odd feeling... on his hand....? It was making him purr again.... No! He was not going to be distracted by his weird cat-like traits, not again! “I-I er.... n-no, o-of course I don’t m-mind.... You n-need these things....” He replies reassuringly. “I-I’m sorry I’m m-making weird sounds.... I-I usually don’t....” He didn’t know why he was doing so much of it now.... it was embarrassing! Well.... to him anyway....

“Yeah, a recliner,” she answered softly, still tracing circles on his palm. Her face grew red when he agreed to get her a bath. It was kind of awkward for her too.... to even think about these things in front of him. A strange sound caught her attention. Jonathan was purring again. She smiled a little, enjoying the sound, even though he sounded embarrassed for it. “They’re not weird,” she said, looking up at him. “I like them, Jonathan.” His purring reminded her of her cat and provided some comfort in this world. She scooted closer to his fingers, hugging one like she would her cat... even though it was bigger than she was. It didn’t matter to her since she was just trying to draw comfort from something familiar. “Don’t stop,” she all but whispered.

“B-but....” He failed to come up with a proper response, being quieted by her words and actions. He couldn’t feel bad about much of anything for too long around her.... He sighed softly and he or her closer when she hugged his finger. “W-well I guess.... i-if you l-like it that much... t-then I won’t....” He wasn’t exactly able to stop it once it got going anyway..... he could only suppress it for so long. Backing up a bit to get a better view of the shelves, he tried to see where something like a recliner would be located.... he assumed where the couches were...? But then where were those? He turned around, rolling his eyes at how oblivious he had just been. This was the same area he was looking over while she was searching for a table. And here, right in front of his face were the exact thing they were now looking for. He must have forgotten.... “O-oh, they’re right here....” He mutters, inwardly face-palming. “D-did you... W-want a certain color...? O-or look?”

“Thank you,” she whispered, enjoying his company. Hearing her cat purr had always calmed her, and his reverberated through her very being. She added it to the pro-list in her mind. She squeezed his finger as he started moving. It wasn’t that it scared her, she just wasn’t expecting it. The girl looked up as he spoke again. He really was being kind to her, even asking her opinion on things. It struck her again that he wouldn’t have to. He could shove her in a pocket and be done with it. She snuggled him a little more to stop that train of thought. “I like soft blues and greens,” she offered, “and so long as it looks.... comfy? I guess. Maybe so it won’t clash with what you already have?”

“No n-need to thank m-me. I-I should b-be thanking you....” He replies back softly. She could have hated that he made noises like that, or could have been freaked out them. They were a bit.... animalistic, so he thought she’d feel he was a weirdo..... Since that’s how basically everyone else felt when they would find out. He wasn’t exactly born in where he was living now..... There were different races, as such.... his were one of the types that could make sounds like that. And there weren’t many of his kind that lived around the area, so he was used to people thinking he was..... strange for being able to do that. But she didn’t seem to mind one bit, in fact she enjoyed it; that was quite refreshing. He purred a bit more subconsciously from the little snuggle, thinking about how basically the whole theme of his house was some type of blue.... “Cl-clash? Y-you mean with the c-colors? Or the design?”

“But you’re the one taking care of me, not the other way around,” Lizzie murmured. She peeked through his fingers at the furniture. “Both,” she squeaked at his question. She didn’t want to be a burden to him, but it felt like she was turning into one. He was having to do everything for her. Well, everything but the essentials. She cuddled against his finger again. She just wouldn’t think about that. He was nice to her, protecting her.

Her reply earned a frown from Jonathan. He wanted to correct her so badly... But they had to get all this shopping done.... He was going to get her about that later though, or at some point. That line of thinking that she had going on.... like her being around wasn’t a reward in itself for him. She mattered.... didn’t she know that? “R-right well t-then uh... G-green, w-would be better.. I-if you d-don’t want that...” He said, choosing to bypass her first words. “And I d-don’t have a recliner m-myself... so design s-shouldn’t be an issue...”

Luckily, she didn’t see his frown or she would have felt worse. Her attention turned back to him as he spoke again. She nodded against his finger, looking between them again to see if she could see one she liked without being put down again. Seeing a sea foam green one that looked exceptionally comfy, she pointed like a small child, clinging to Jonathan’s finger so she didn’t fall off his hand. “That one looks nice,” she said, happiness returning to her tone. “The sea foam green one!”

Again the thought of where all this furniture was going to go popped into his head.... and he wondered if maybe they should have a special place just for her.... especially if she was going to have to change and stuff.... “L-Lizzie e-erm..... since we’re.... g-getting all of this f-furniture... and things.... w-would you.... m-maybe.... L-like to have your own... house?” He had already kind of been considering the idea the first time furniture was mentioned..... It would make certain things a lot easier for her.... and well.... He figured she’d like the privacy it would provide.... Because despite her seeming to not mind being with him all the time.... everyone needed some time alone... right?

Lizzie looked up at him, cocking her head to the side. Her own house? She’d really only need a room or two. She could eat whatever Jonathan made and sleep on his pillow. Come to think of it, it would only have to be a bathroom and little rest area to store her clothes and change in, maybe hang out in, too. “I-it wouldn’t have to be a full house,” she replied. “I-I don’t think I’d need all that room to myself, but a room or two, maybe?” She had no idea if that was possible or not, but she hoped so.

Separate rooms? Well that sounded a bit better.... But as to if they could actually do that he didn’t quite know.... ”W-well then m-maybe they have s-something like that.... I-I’m sure you’re not the f-first person to ask for it.” He assumed that anyway.... “W-was this it? Or did you want to look for something e-else?” He couldn’t quite recall of they had discussed anything else before they had left.... but then again then never really specified what type of furniture they were going to be looking for in the first place. He picked up the recliner, and couldn’t help but look it over for a moment before putting it in. If it weren’t actually someone’s furniture he probably would have fiddled around with it.... but it was..... so... yeah....

Lizzie scooted back to his palm as he lifted the chair and examined it. She fiddled with her fingers as he asked if the chair was the last. “J-just the rooms, I think,” she answered shyly. “L-like a b-b-bathroom and just resting/changing room?” Her face turned bright red as she spoke and she tried to hide her face. It was so weird to be asking him to get all these things for her. Hopefully, the bathroom would come fully equipped.

When she moved back in the center of his hand that had reminded him that he was kind of holding her out so she could see things on the shelf a bit a better. Since it seemed as though she was done with looking, he moved his hand back close to his chest while he headed out of the section. It was sort of.... strange to hear her stutter.... or at least as much as she was right now.... She stuttered the first time they met, which was understandable.... but so far she had been okay. He was sure the subject wasn’t exactly helping though....   “Al-alright then um.... before I go and ask.... D-did you still want to get a stuffed animal as well?” He almost forgot that she wanted one..... now that would have truly been a tragedy!

She settled in his palm, flopping back slightly. She pushed her glasses up and looked at Jonathan as she had seen him the first time. It was kind of... relaxing to see him like this again. The girl jumped a little as he spoke again. Her blush came back in full force. She had almost forgotten about that too. Pushing herself upright and sliding her glasses back down, she looked up at him. “Y-yes, please,” she answered.

His change of subject helped somewhat..... Right? She uh.... she wasn’t.... well actually she was still stuttering.... and her blushing was even worse.... But it was for a different reason! So.. that was good enough he supposed.... He smiled down at her softly. Was it just him or did it kind of look like she needed a hug? Actually the urge to do so was always there so he couldn’t really tell....  She always looked huggable..... was that weird? Ugh what was he even thinking about right now? Stupid, silly thoughts....! “Okay then. W-we uh.... haven’t check all the way in b-back yet....” He supposed he’d check there. The whole place seemed to go on forever.... It felt as though someone could get lost in it..... “I-it’s like a mansion in h-here..... They really put a lot of e-effort into this....” He mused.

Lizzie couldn’t help giggling up at him. It was kind of cute that she could get him all flustered like that. She rolled over on his hand, moving closer to his fingers to look around. The girl made sure she had a good grip on at least one finger as she looked around. Falling from here would not be fun, unlike slipping into the basket had been. “Try seeing it from this angle,” she commented. “It’s huge!” Normally, Lizzie was anything but a mall rat, but this one store had literally everything her size. She could probably spend a lifetime here and still not know everything. She had a sudden thought. “J-Jonathan?” she called, turning to face him. “Do you think they might have... books my size?”

Seeing her roll across his hand like that was both interesting and a bit scary..... Interesting because she was small enough to do so, and scary because.... well.... for the same reason actually.... It was nice to not have to nag her about holding on anymore though, she seemed to be doing that automatically now. Her comment made him wonder how it looked from her point of view.... If the place was large to him.... then.... how big did it look to her...? He couldn’t even get a proper picture of it.... “I-I can hardly imagine....” He murmured, looking down at her when called. That was.... a good question! Which he wasn’t quite sure of.... especially since they were already going to the back, so if the books weren’t here then.... Maybe they were on another side...? Hey that’s right.... they were only on one side of the store.... right? This side only really seemed to have furniture so.... perhaps the other side would have books somewhere? “I think.....” He paused for a moment as he went to look into the last row. Instead of what they were looking for, there were things like lamps and light fixers. Just as he thought.... “I think t-there’s another side....”

Lizzie leaned against the finger, still holding on, but facing the other way. She could tell he was looking for what she asked for. It still felt a little weird to have him doing all this for her. She had no idea what had made her ask about books. Well she did, but she wondered if giants could even print books her size. After all, the optometrist had been human, like her. “I-if they don’t, would you... maybe let me read some your size?” she asked after he mentioned another side of the store. It might be a bit of a hassle to read them, but she’d get her exercise in that way too. After all, most books she would want to read would be at least half as thick as she was tall. There were a lot of things about this world she would have to get used to, apparently.

They may not have had books for humans here..... but he still wanted to check and really make sure for her. Plus he was rather curious about that as well, it was yet another thing that seemed like only a human could be in charge of.... He smiled and nodded at her question about being able to use his books, of course not having a problem with such a thing. “S-sure, I actually have a lot of books at home..... Some I haven’t even been able to read mys-self yet. And we could always make a visit to the library, i-if you want.”  The thought of how she’d be able to read them crossed his mind though, wouldn’t that be a bit.... difficult? She wanted to do it though, and if she felt like she could handle it then that was good enough for him. Or at least until proven otherwise..... “I guess it’s the other side now then...” This might as well be a second home, they had been it for so long now.... or maybe it just seemed like a long time? Ah well, it’s not like they weren’t getting things. He’d rather spend as long as they needed in the store now instead of having to take multiple trips. Besides, she seemed to know what she wanted right now, and he didn’t want to ruin that. “Do you have a cetain genre t-that you like i-in books...?” He asked while heading back to the front.

She smiled at his words. Now, if they didn’t have any her size, she just had to figure out how to read ones Jonathan’s size. After all the books would be super small to him, barely a quarter inch. She sighed a little, leaning into his finger a little more. For the first time, she let her mind wrap around her full situation. She was two inches tall, sitting in a giant’s hand and leaning against his finger. They were in a store, buying things for her that would be next to useless to him. She let go of the finger behind her, bringing up her knees and wrapping her arms around them. “Stop it, Lizzie,” she whispered to herself, trying to keep these negative feelings under Jonathan’s radar. She didn’t want him to think she wasn’t happy with him. She was.... mostly. She felt him change direction and looked up at him when he spoke again. “Genres?” she repeated. “I... I read a lot of things. A little fantasy, a little mystery, a little sci fi. Oh! Do you think if they have books, they have Michael Crichton books? Jurassic Park, Lost World, and Prey were always three of my favorites.”

Seeing her change her seating into that particular position made his stomach drop, like he just went down on a steep roller-coaster. He knew that position by now, he knew what it meant. She had been going in that same position every time she’s been bothered with something. On one hand he wanted to know what was troubling her, and on the other..... he had a good feeling of what was already..... He face held concern, though it was mostly masked with a neutral/happy expression. “Mm-hm, I read all those kinds too.... u-used to read Alice in Wonderland a lot when I was younger.....” And perhaps he still did, occasionally..... “Michael Crichton? W-well I guess that depends on how much they have erm.... converted?” He couldn’t exactly answer her as perfectly as he wished... he was basically learning about all of this right along with her......

She smiled a little at his words, feeling a little better. Somehow, knowing he liked similar things made her happy. Alice in Wonderland, huh? She’d read that one once, and Through the Looking Glass. She set her chin on her knees, thinking about how different her life was going to be now. She kind of felt like Alice right now, except there was no mushroom to make her big. Shaking her head, she bit her lip, reprimanding herself for thinking that way. Uncurling, she crawled to the middle of his palm as he walked, feeling a little more comfortable away from the edges. She looked back up at him, absently wondering how anyone could miss someone his size when they came to her world. Stop. Not her world. Not anymore. But still.... “Do you guys have invisibility cloaks or something?” she asked before realizing how random that sounded.

Walking down this somewhat long way back up to the front kept making him get lost in his thoughts.... well more than usual. He kept thinking about different things.... stuff that they weren’t talking about and then things that they were. One thought that just wouldn’t seem to leave him be was what he was going to do when he would have to go to work tomorrow..... He couldn’t leave Lizzie home, but then how would it be if he took her with him? And how.... “W-what?” Her off-topic question successfully caught his attention, very well in fact.... it was indeed rather random.... But he knew the answer to that at least. “A-actually..... yes, they’ve been around for a good amount of years now.... I-in fact....” He was going to go on and mention that humans became more.... common in his world when those cloaks came out. Probably because it made it a lot easier to.... capture them, and gather information..... “Erm.... n-never mind.... lost my train of thought.....” He lied, biting his lip.

“So that’s why,” she murmured, hugging herself a little tighter. That’s why she hadn’t seen anything. It wasn’t because it had been dark. It was because whoever it was had been invisible. Then she had lost her glasses... and was shoved in that room... that box... and then Jonathan had opened that box. And here she was. She cocked her head at his trailing off. She could probably guess what he was going to say. “There are more humans now, right?” she asked looking up at him. “More people like me.” Her stormy blues begged him for an answer. She had to know she wasn’t going crazy thinking that. Her small hand patted the palm under her, letting him know she didn’t blame him. That it was just something she wanted to be sure of.

He didn’t even need to stop talking, she was already figuring it out anyway..... Why wouldn’t she be able to? It was so obvious..... He hadn’t even really thought into until now..... He never realized that’s how they got away with it. Humans weren’t always around, treated as pets and who knows what else.... They only really started to appear when that new tech came around. He sighed nodded at her question, looking into her eyes. The pat helped him to get it out but..... he still felt bad for even being part of the race that did this. “Yes, that’s when..... all of this started to really happen.....” It was risky business to take humans before the cloaks came about. “I-it never really clicked before..... u-until now....” He rubbed the back of his neck with a slight frown, looking up to see the front of the store again. The counter caught his attention..... there wasn’t a person behind it, there was a computer. This place must have been one of the few stores that replaced a person with a machine. “Huh, I-I didn’t even notice that when we came in.....”
